Yes, unconditionally. Personal Budget adheres to a strict Zero-Knowledge, Local-First architecture. SMS parsing occurs 100% on your device hardware in real-time. We never transmit your SMS messages, bank notifications, or budget records to any server or third party. You never have to share online banking passwords or usernames.

Why does the app request the SMS permission? +

The RECEIVE_SMS permission is requested solely to detect incoming bank transaction alerts in real-time. It is optional: if you choose not to grant it, you can still use Personal Budget with complete manual entry. If granted, your SMS data is processed in memory and never stored or uploaded externally.

Which banks and cards are supported? +

Personal Budget includes custom parsing logic for South Africa's premier banks: Capitec, FNB, Standard Bank, Nedbank, Absa, Discovery Bank, TymeBank, and Investec. It also features a universal regex parser that automatically identifies transaction SMS alerts containing words like "paid", "debited", "purchased", or "swiped" in any global market.

How do I get the ad-free version? +

You can remove all ads with a single, affordable one-time in-app purchase processed securely through Google Play Billing or Huawei In-App Purchases (IAP). Once purchased, your ad-free status is permanent and lifetime.

Can I switch currencies if I travel or relocate? +
